Hi, I'm probably not thew first to notice that the above Link "Install for Windows" doesn't work, but ends with Error 404.

Thanks for putting this together, it will certainly make thinks easier for other Win98 users to fix this from now on.

I'm not entirely convinced that package.ico is needed. It's a copy of main-window.ico (byte for byte identical).

Anyone that's installed chatzilla you can fix it's icon by doing the following:

Search for chatzilla-window.ico under C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ and copy the file to C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\chrome\icons\default
(directory names may vary according to your windows and firefox installs)

Now does anyone know where any of the icons listed in the following topic can be found? Even if they are only in PNG form I could convert them into icons.

no you don't need this. if you install one of the icon packs there will be a "main-window.ico" of your choice - which you then can replace by any old icon you can find, if you want to.

re: comment #6 - It's a lot easier to tell the non-technical usersthat Firefox is aimed at who are affected by this bug to click on a link than it is to explain about icon files and how to replace them in obscure (to those users) directories.

As for the example comments #146 and #147 in Bug#171349

PLEASE ..please .. do do not add comments to the Bug with out first reading through and only then if it is actually usefull like say a working patch!!! otherwise it may make the developer even less inclined to fix the bug!!!

mozillanews.org/bugzilla_warning.php3?id=171349

If it was not for the fact that the the icon is sourced from the firefox.exe on windows XP/2000 ,then maybe this bug would have been made high priority.

Greetings
I could not get the button to put the Firefox icon in the tray. I tried to do it manually, making the subdirectories in the Chrome Folder and that did not work either. Do you have any advice for me?

What happens when you click on the "Install for Windows" link above? That should install the icons. They should then work after you have restarted Firefox, including the systray icon thing that runs in the background if you installed it.

This bug is now fixed on trunk nightlies (on windows) since April.13, so Firefox 1.1 should have a firefox icon then.

re: comment #21 - do you get a message appearing just above the page saying that Firefox prevented this site from installing software?
If you check the F.A.Q. (link at the top of this site), it tells you what to do if you get this message.
